What is copyright

Authors have always been concerned about people copying their work and passing it off as their own. Since the invention of the printing press that process has been easier. From the time of Queen Ann the law has developed to help authors protect their original work. In due course statutes have been passed to clarify an authors rights to control how their creation is used . The latest act in the UK is the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988.
